Archive for 2011 Gratitude Challenge

Today I am thankful for fun family traditions that build future memories.  Yesterday, we went up the mountain with my parents and found Christmas trees.  We got our permits on Friday, and then yesterday, we bundled up in warm clothes and piled into my Dad’s truck and away we went.  We had a great time making memories. Dad found some really pretty pinecones and mom had packed up some hot chocolate and wassail in thermoses.  It was a great day!  Here are a few pictures from our adventure:

Today I am thankful for pain relievers.  I am thankful for my Tylenol Arthritis and my Ibuprofen.  They help me make it through the day when I am hurting.  I am also thankful for my herbal remedies.  They also help me in many ways.  I am glad they are there to be used wisely when I need them and help me to not hurt.

Today I am grateful for having the option to repair our Wii.  It seems like everything is breaking around here lately.  My Kitchenaid Food Processor had a freak accident and it will cost more to replace everything that will need  replaced than to just purchase a new one.  That will have to wait until spring.  (Hopefully it won’t be longer than that.)  One of our freezers is being temperamental.  We *think* it was caught in a defrost cycle.  It seems to be out of that now, but I just don’t trust it.  It is pretty old, so it will most likely get replaced in the spring when funds are more available.  Our Ford Explorer blew a transmission a couple of months ago.  It is sitting in the shop waiting until spring when we have more funds.  I can go on and on.  It is frustrating.  Then the Wii quit working this past week.  Since we use it for PE in our homeschool, this was not something that any of us deemed as cool.

We have been watching the Black Friday ads and though we found some deals, we just didn’t feel good about any of them.  And our funds are extremely tight since I have not been getting paid for the past couple of months.  (I am still waiting on payment for my work in September.)  Gary doesn’t make a lot of money during the fall and winter since he works in the gardening industry.  We kind of count on my pay to make ends meet.

Anyway, all of this to say that I checked into getting the Wii repaired at the factory.  It cost us much less than purchasing a new one, even the ones that are on sale for Black Friday.  The factory will have it back to us within 10 business days after they receive it.  And the best part?  They will give us a brand new 1 year warranty on the machine. Since our Wii is at least 5 or 6 years old, that is an awesome perk.  So we scraped together the funds and our Wii will be shipping out later today.  We are all smiling.
