Today I am thankful for Homeschooling! I am so grateful that we have that freedom and right to decide how to educate our children. What a blessing it is to work hand in hand with God while educating our children.
I remember when we started this journey and heeded the call from the Lord to homeschool my son. We knew we needed to make some changes from the elementary school he was attending. We began looking at Charter schools and interviewing them as we weighed our educational choices. We settled on one of the charter schools, but there was not an opening in the grade we needed. So we went on a waiting list. We still felt uneasy about waiting, so we continued to look for other options. We prayed and prayed for the Lord to reveal His will and lead us in the direction we should go for our son’s education. We finally decided to try a Virtual Academy and bring our son home. It was the best decision we ever made.
We did eventually get a call from the charter school we had chosen, offering us a spot. We turned it down. I spent some time fighting against the system of the Virtual Academy. But since I was doing the majority of the work, I did discover that I could teach my son and that it was a good thing. My son and I struggled as we learned how to make it all work. But we also grew closer. We became a team.
The following year we broke free from the Virtual Academy and tried it on our own. We haven’t looked back since. I know that God used the Virtual Academy to show me his will for our son. He also used it to show my husband. We have grown closer as a family through our homeschooling experience. We have marveled at the progress our son has made through our homeschool. We know that our son would not be where he is without the ability to school at home.
So today, I want to say I am so grateful for homeschooling. I would have not seen myself here before, but I am so grateful for the journey.
What are you thankful for today?

I am glad that you have had the opportunity to home school your son. We sent my children to public school and for the most part have been very happy with our decision.
Oh me too, I am so thankful for homeschooling. It’s an exciting journey to be on!
I agree, I too am so thankful for being able to homeschool.
Homeschooling is on my list of blessings as well! It’s such a wonderful thing that we have the freedom to determine what is best for our children and our family, and that within the umbrella of homeschooling we have have so many versions! Love it!
I am so thankful to have the ability to homeschool too!
It has been such a blessing not only for my children but myself and my husband as well.
I think I have learned more than anyone, not as far as school wise but other lessons and challenges that God has given me.
One of my blessings too! I am so thankful for this because with my husband being an over the road truck driver he is often home during the week and gone over weekends. If it weren’t for schooling at home he would see the kids even less than he does now. Plus, the flexibility of homeschooling allows the kids to go with him. My two youngest are on a 10 day trip with him right now. They went to Arizona and were able to spend 3 days visiting family there.
What a blessing it is!! Homeschooling was on my list for tomorrow, so looks like I’ll be copying you
I’m constantly amazed at how much both my husband and I have learned during our homeschooling journey. I’m so glad that we listened to the Lord’s leading in our lives.
I agree! Homeschooling is such a blessing–Nick and I went through a similar journey, although it took me longer to figure out:))

I feel like a “fish out of water” since i don’t have children to homeschool…I’m sure if I did have kids I would homeschool as I’m not that impressed with public schools. I used to work at a school so I know what I’m talking about.:) I so enjoyed my days of teaching..and I loved seeing kids get excited over a lesson!
Thanks for hosting this…and I hope I’m welcome here.
You’ve come a long way, baby! Having started in public school as well, I went through some similar moments. Thank you for your post.
I too am grateful for homeschooling! What a privilege and a responsibility. Thanks Brenda for hosting this challenge.
