Fresh Plum Kuchen

1/4 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. grated lemon peel

1 cup flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1/4 cup milk

2 cups fresh plums (about 4 medium ones)

1 TB cinnamon

1/2 cup brown sugar

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together.  Beat in the eggs and lemon peel.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.  Stir the flour mixture into the creamed ingredients.  Add the milk, mixing well.

Grease a 9  X 9 baking pan.  Sprinkle greased bottom and sides lightly with sugar.  Spoon in batter.

Slice the plums and arrange on top of dough.

In a small bowl, stir together the cinnamon and brown sugar.  Sprinkle over the plums.  Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50-60 minutes.  Let cool and serve with whipped topping or ice cream.
